    M1840 Ames Cavalry Sword?

Got one I may end up selling soon.
It is in very good conditions everything intact.
No real damage chips or anything. Scabbard included, looks great.
Looking to find more info on it to get a true value and any background on it.
If I remember it was dates 1860. Will get it out of the safe and pictures soon.

Just was wondering if there was a go to person in our group that knows a lot about blades and value of them.

    Gadget,

Just saw your thread. I've been "off the net" for awhile recouping from foot surgery.

I have a gentleman who specializes in period edged weapons out of PA.

Will fwd his contact info via PM when I get back to work on 3 March.

He's a very personable and helpful individual who's happy to help via email. He's been a tremendous help to me in trying to ID and fairly price those swords I have for sale on the Bulletin Board.

    Good deal
    thanks.

I hope if is worth more than I paid.
because I got is from a former NSSA member that is passed I plan to sell it and donate some money in his name back to the NSSA.
I keep it locked in a safe and wish it could be on display or out in the open.....
