Original Mississippi rifle 1850 Robbins & Lawrence type E for sale

I have an original 1850 Robbins & Lawrence Mississippi rifle for sale. It is a .58 caliber type E Civil War modification. The barrel was lined by Hoyt with 7 grooves 1 turn in 60". The wood is stretched at the lower band. The lock has a Rich Cross tumbler and sear. The trigger breaks at 3 3/4 lbs. It has one of the repro mainsprings Allan Cockey and I sold some years ago. I'll guarantee the mainspring against breakage. We sold over 100 of these mainsprings with a guarantee and we have never replaced one! One lock screw is a replacement. The front band and both sling swivels are repros. I do not have an SAC card with it but it is built to specs and can insure you it will pass. I have enough guns with SAC cards in my name. You should have it in your name. It is sighted centered left and right but shoots low and will need load development and sighted in to suit you.
I'm asking $1650 for it. I can meet you at the fort for inspection or to shoot it if you would like. It's a damn fine rifle ready for skirmishing. It was going to be my shooter but I found an 1849 Harper's Ferry with the original armory conversion to .58 with the original ramrod. It needs some TLC but it will become my shooter so this one needs a new home. I've furnished a target shot with the rifle. I have more pictures. PM me for info or more pics.

The rifle is SOLD as of 3/11/2017

    Re Mississippi

John what size is the bore and what bullet, and powder charge did you use for the sample target. Thanks, Scott

Scott, the bullet was a Lyman blue-gray copy of the Hodgdon bullet with a slightly modified base. It was sized to .5755" and loaded with 42 grains of Swiss FFF. I have a target shot with the Lyman 575213 new style with 45 grains of Goes FF and the group is as good but it is lower on the target and the holes are not as distinct so the picture is not as clear.

That's a Rich Cross rear sight and he is not making anything anymore due to health issues so when the current inventory is used up there will be no more and this version of the 1841 rifle won't be built. Steve Buchannon and Tom Nixon get about $1000 more for the rifles they build with mostly original parts. The reason for the repro parts in the lock is that the lock was a mess when I got it with a broken sear and broken half cock in the tumbler.

Over 400 hits, no takers. Price reduced to rock bottom at $1500. Skirmish season is about to get in high gear. Start the new year with a new rifle and get into the winners circle. Robbins & Lawrence were probably the best of the 1841 rifles and this one has been restored to prolong the reputation they have earned. PM for more pictures or to schedule an inspection or even to go shoot it!

One more time around. Over 600 views and only one nibble. What's wrong? Price to high? No SAC card? I can take care of that. Stretched stock? It's done right and if I didn't tell you then you would have to take it apart to tell. Repro parts? There was no other choice, the originals were ruined. Doesn't shoot well enough? That target was the 1st time out with ammo for another rifle. A little tweaking should do it. Mississippis are out of style? Waiting on tax refund? Hanging onto $$$ for the B'more show? Let me know why there is no more interest.

Oh, I'm interested! Way interested! My wife would LOVE it. She wants one, but doesn't want to spend the money right now.
