Question P53 Enfield Nipple / Cone Fitting?

After several attempts, I'm having trouble finding a suitable replacement nipple/cone for an original P53 Enfield. It seems that the threaded portion is too long and the cone base will not tighten down flush with the bolster face. If I were to dremmel off the lower 1/8" or so of cone threads, it would allow the cone to sit flush but that would then bring up a second concern. The threads on all of my replacements stop short of the cone base by 1/8" or so. I would then be concerned about not having enough threads to safely hold the cone in place during firing.
Can someone recommend a replacement nipple/cone or suitable modification?
    Thanks in advance,

As long as the threads are locked down in the bottom of the bolster you shouldn't have any issues. The nipples for my Smith are the same way, and I've fired it like that for 30 years with no issues. However, if there is any looseness in the threads you have an entirely different problem.

all of my musket nipples are made the same way as the one you are talking about. just shorten the threads enough to bottom out your nipple and shoot it. make sure to put some anti-seize on the threads to make removal easy.

    My two cents...

Just recently I replaced a beryllium nipple in an original P53.

It took some heat and kroll oil, but I eventually got it out.

Replaced it with an original Enfield Nipple from S&S. Nipple was in GREAT condition, and it "fit like a glove".

Hope this is of some help.

    Hallo!

Trial & Error, and see how lucky you might be.

Original P1853 Third Models made by the Birmingham Small Arms Trade were not standardized, and cones/nipples can vary maker to maker.

If you have a later P1853 Fourth Model which were standardized (as were London Armoury's and some London Commercial), you should fare better.

Being an original Enfield, you'll need a Nipple with the old 'Imperial' thread.
The Parker Hale .577 Rifles made in the 1970s used the original gauges for manufacture.
One of the newly produced Nipples made to fit the 'Imperial' thread size of he Parker Hale might work.
I'd have no idea where you could buy one in the USA but 'Henry Krank' the UKs biggest dealer in Black Powder Firearms sell them.
