    Maynard bullets

I`m new at Maynards, so somebody tell me, what bullet do you guys shoot? I have a .515 lyman and a 515 lee. Will either one shoot well in my newly acquired maynard carbine? Thanks for the help. :?:

    Wormey,

I've been shooting a Romano 1st Model Maynard for about 6 months now. The only bullet I have ever had for it is the old Ideal 515139, but pan lubed with Emmert's lube and on 20.5g +/- of FFFg GOEX in reduced capacity brass cases, it shoots so well I don't want to mess with it. Green

Yeah,,,,,what the slimy green guy above ^^^^ said only I use 21 grains of 3F Goex. Kinda hard to beat the Lyman 515139.

I have found that Romano's bullet he designed shoots purdy good also. But mine ain't broke usin' the Lyman so it up for change.

    Lube is 50/50 Beewax/Crisco

I have shot the Lyman 518145, a 360 grain RNFPBB bullet with very good success. I now shoot the Owsiak bullet, practically identical to the Lyman, but it comes in a 6-gang Lee mould which is super fast at cranking out bullets! 24 grains 3F, and it will shoot.

Anyone still selling the 6 gang .50 molds? Bill O. said he wasn't interested in investing in them currently.

I'm shooting a Romano .50cal 1st Model. The Romano bullet in front of 30 grains works well.

    Thanks!!
Lee wants him to buy 100 molds at a time to have them made now so it's not that he doesn't want to invest in them,,,,,,he just doesn't want them still in his retirment fund

You'd think Lee would change their ways in the economic times.

Ah yes, that 6 gang Lee mould from Lodgewood sure is nice. Thanks P.J. I love that thing. I don't know what bullet the mould casts, if it is Lee's design or someone elses, but it sure does shoot well in my Maynard with only 18 grns of xxx GOEX.

    Greg Edington's 52 Wilkinson

The best results in a Maynard that I've found are with Greg Edington's 52 Wilkinson bullet. Works beautifully!
