New member looking to shoot at fort matches

I am a new member and am currently on the 46th IL team. I live near Winchester and am looking to fill in on team matches outside of the National events. I am still learning this whole black powder deal but am really enjoying it so far. Please reach out if you need a carbine or musket shooter so I can get some time on the range.

    R/

    Hi Doug,

Welcome to the N-SSA as a new member, this sport is addictive and you will love it immensely. There is a subject area on the bulletin board for such requests as yours further down the list, it's called "Base of Tower". That is where teams post, looking for extra shooters for upcoming skirmishes, or individuals put out requests that they are available to shoot with a team that needs extra shooters. Since you live close to Winchester, you can even just go to a Regional Skirmish being held at the fort and standby around the main range tower and see if teams need extra shooters, because that is the area that they look for them and make request from the tower to announce if there is any extra shooters available to report there. Plus you can buy and shoot Individual targets on Friday & Saturday to get some range time in, and possibly winning yourself a medal to boot. Again welcome aboard.

As Mr. Miller said just post on the "Base of Tower" topic that you are available for whatever you wish to shoot, musket, carbine or whatever. Don't wait until the skirmish but do it at least several days in advance. You will probably find a team to shoot with. Otherwise just show up early at the tower. There are generally teams looking for shooters. I have run the tower at some Regionals and most extra shooters find a place to shoot. Once in a while someone gets left out but very seldom.

Come on out and shoot. Shooting with different teams is a good way to get to know a lot of people. Soon teams may be asking for you to come shoot with them.
