Smoothbore Pistol

I read with great empathy John and Jackie Holland's struggles with the smoothbore pistol in the "Skirmish Line." I feel their problems lie with the hemongous powder charges they're using. My friend Virgil from Minnesota always used 12 grains fffg in his blackpowder pistols, and had great success. The only down side is occasionally the ball would stick in the cardboard backer.

Thanks Egg, glad you enjoyed the article! it was a "timely" story, unfortunately written nearly two years ago. Many things have changed in the interim, one of which is the approval of the Pedersoli M- 1805 Percussion Pistol, and the "scientists" in the N-SSA who have already made unbelievable advances in the SS Pistol scores being turned in. To those competitors, I doff my cap!
