Wanted: Primary source for 3rd generation British Enfield cartridge pattern and assy.

I am looking for the (a) primary source for the pattern and assembly instructions for the 3rd pattern of British Enfield cartridge. This is the version with the gummed band connecting the inner and outer wrapper.

If anyone has a citation, I would appreciate it.

    Hi Smosin,

    What is "LOC"?

I have seen those sources before (except the last one, and it has 502 bad gateway errors when you try to go past page 1).

They do not detail the final 1860 cartridge design. Handbook for Hythe shows the 1859 pattern.

I have ordered List of Changes in British War Material, Vol 1, 1860 - 1886 through inter-library loan.

I've just checked my Enfield Paper Cartridges article on the Research Vault site and get no errors(?).

Incase you still get problems, the manufacture details I show are from Handbook for Hythe, so isn't the pattern you want.

I was re-reading Volume 4 of Round Ball to Rimfire and they actually have a lithograph of the final Enfield cartridge pattern reproduced there, but the text is too small to make out the dimensions. However, the original is said to be at the Museum of the Confederacy, so I will make inquiries.
