Ok, I cant figure this out. I have an M1855 cartridge box and I have the box sling. Purchased both from Fall Creek

How the heck do I attach the sling to the box???

I think I figured it out... I fed the belt through the loops in the top of the back. I noticed they are slanted so I assumed they cross in the back, and also because the buckles are also slanted.

The feeding into the buckles seems strange and the outside cover is pretty hard to get snapped with the harness on.

Trying to find pictures online is difficult.

    Longrifle,

I believe you got it the way you described. The cartridge box strap is installed rough side down which is against your body when wearing it, smooth or shiny side out. The straps do criss-cross in the rear of the box where the loops & buckles are, just adjust the belts (raise or lower) via the buckles for a comfortable fit on the hip. Brand new leather is stiff, but will break in with wear, and you can also apply leather conditioner to all your leather goods to soften & protect. I got all my leather goods from Fall Creek also. Very good quality epuiptment.

    Leather treatment

I have a pair of cav. boots that I bought almost 40 years ago when we wore them. They were used for almost 20 years in the Winchester and Capron mudd, water dirt; well you get the idea. Then they sat in my study for 20 years. Leather dried, hard and cracked. Was told of a product to try on the CASS bb and tried it. Wouldn't believe they are the same boots. This is the best leather conditioner I have ever used. "Skidmore's Leather Cream". www.skidmores.com. Nice guy too.
