    colt pistol

Guys, I need a little help... I acquired a Colt 44 cal. from another skirmisher. It says Navy Arms on top of the barrel but on the side it has a G V. Does anyone know if Gardone ValTrompia produced colts for Navy Arms? The serial # is 5XX so it was an early repop.

Finally got a good pic of the colt, as you can see it is not GVT but only GV... I also emailed Navy Arms to try and figure this out.

    It's a collector's item. Give me $15 and I'll take it.

The Date Code of "XX" on the side of the frame indicates it was made in 1964.

    Paul, sorry no dice!
John, thanks for the date. Do you know anymore about this pistol?

Here is a reply from Navy Arms:

Don it appears you have an 1860 Reb Model better known
as the Griswold and Gunnison Revolver.

If you look at the picture close you can see that the barrel isn't curved down by the plunger like a regular colt. I looked on gunbroker and can't find any colts with this setup.

The G-U stands for georgio and Uberti, I have a 51' colt copy with a sn of 1165, mine has no date markings, proof stamps. The only markings on mine are GU, navy arms, ridgefield NJ, made in italy. My cyliner is also not ingraved.
