What weapons were issued to the 8th Michigan Cav raised at Mt. Clemens?

The 8th michigan Cav was probably like the rest of the Michigan Cav. units in that they served with different arms through the war. I do not know the list. I do know in Oct. 1864 they were armed with Springfield muskets.(or's)

Hallo!

For 1863-1864 NARA ammunition requisition records show that the 8th Michigan Cavalry was armed with Spencer rifles as were the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th.
For the same time, the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th also and Spencer carbines. 3rd had Starr carbines.
For some odd reason (lost records or other), the only mention of revolvers was Remington Army revolvers for the 2nd MI cavalry.

According to James G Genco's book" Arming Michigan's Regiments" In 63 they were issued Spencer rifles and Colt Army revolvers.
In June of 64 they were issued Burnside carbines and Austrian 54 caliber muskets. In September of 64 they were issued 1855, 61 & 63 rifled muskets & Burnside carbines. The Austrian and a few Enfield muskets were kept in stores.
