Was looking at a Mississippi at nationals and really liked the looks and feel.
what is needed to add the Benton Screw Sight to the normal reproductions that are out there.
Looking at a DP for the platform.
one I seen on the range had a few cuts In the barrel on the end and about 2'' back for a bayo but no lug.
The repops I see are being sold without a lug and say NSSA approved.
The one I'm looking at is this.

John Holland can provide you with rhe spec sheets for the variants.
Hallo!
There were two "Benton Screw" types used. The first had no bayonet lug on the barrel, but had two muzzle cuts milled for the 'Snell" turnbuckle sword bayonet and the long type nose cap.. The second had an early "Mississippi" type lug with guide rail with the short type nose cap.

Curt
very good information.
That is what I had seen.
the link I posted is that one a long or short nose cap.
Hallo!
The mass produced, commercial reproductions (Italian) of the "Mississippi" rifle are the pre alteration, 1840's original configuration... so they all have the "Kentucky rifle" style fixed block rear sight, the "long" nose cap/barrel band, and no bayonet lug.

I'm wanting to use that gun as a base so it looks like need to get a short nose and cut the barrel for the bayo to use the the sight or add the long lug to it.
does that sound correct?

For the Type 1 Benton Screw Sight Mississippi - Original long front band, and the Snell Bayonet cuts.
For the Type 2 Benton Screw Sight Mississippi - Short front band and a bayonet lug with a long guide.
Jon, you have my email address, write to me and I will send you the sheets.
