Need a front band spring for a 42 macon. Anybody have one lying around?

My 30" Macon conversion had a slotted screw in.place of the band spring on a normal 42.

Check with John Holland or your regional SAC member.

Scott, A 1842 springfield smoothbore battlefield cut down has a set of length requirements through SAC to regulate this type of firearm although the battlefield damage 1842 were not cut down to exact lengths during war. The 30" and 33" or 34" (cannot remember)cut downs upperband are held by a flat head screw. The upperband on a 36" cut down uses the bandspring with lug (just like a original) to hold upperband in place. hope this helps. Rich

The type 1 is held in place by a slotted screw, 30" barrel

I think my JRA 30'' macon has the front band with the band spring.

as said th next size up 34 needs a screw as there is no room for the spring.
and the 36 can use the screw or a spring.

not really sure but I think the 30 can have screw or spring.
