1859 Sharps Rifle
Sharps New Model 1859 Percussion rifle with saber bayonet lug bearing serial number 42409. It has a 3 band 30” barrel. The barrel is shinny and has rifling but also has some pitting near the breach. The rear sight and butt plate are reproductions. You can see from the pictures that the rifle has some heavy pitting and the wood is showing its use. The top screw on the butt plate is snapped and there is a piece of wood missing from the area along with a split at the base of the butt. The patent dates are legible.
