Fellas,

I need help. I purchased a brand new Pedersoli 1861 Springfield Rifle Musket. The Dixie catalogue recommends a .575 minnie. I have a Lyman 575213 mould. I cast some rounds with good soft %100 lead and lubed the grooves with a combination of mutton tallow and beeswax. I went to the range. I tried some shots with the rounds seated on 60 grains of Schuetzen 2fg powder. It was terrible. The rounds tumbled down range end over end, striking the target sideways, if they hit at all. I tried some .577 minis and they won't even fit down the muzzle. If anyone can help me, I know that y'all can because as it stands now, I get better accuracy and performance from my Brown Bess. Thanks in advance for your helo.

Try FFG Goex powder and start at 40 grains and work your way up. As I said in your other thread, first you need to have Minies that are about .001" under bore size.
