Are any Pietta revolvers approved by the N-SSA or is it just the Uberti's such as the 1847 Walker? If not, why not? Thank you in advance.
sincerely

SteveG,

For the convenience of all, the N-SSA's Approved Arms List is available online on the N-SSA's home page, or through this link:
http://www.n-ssa.org/NATIONAL/SAC_Jan2013.pdf

And, to answer your question, there are eight Pietta revolvers approved for use in the N-SSA's competitive matches.

Some are, some aren't. For instance, the Pietta 1858 is approved, but the Pietta 1860 is not. The reason is that Pietta has not submitted them for approval.

SteveG,

That one would not be permitted on account of the non-original sights. i bet its a beauty to shoot with those modern sights, though!

cheers,

SteveG:

The picture you showed looks like a standard 1858 - I can't make out the adjustable rear sight of the target model. Like Jim said, an 1858 with the modern target sight is not approved to shoot with.

Here is the approved Pietta 1858 Remington:

Here is the non-approved Pietta 1858 Remington "target model":

Steve;
Actually the picture I posted is the same one you listed and added the link to Cabelas. I just posted it quite small as I wasn't sure how to attach a larger pic or the link. Thank you.

SteveG:

I don't think so. Even when small you can make out the little bump of the target rear sight on the target model:

I'm pretty sure that the picture you are showing is the non-target model.

Anyway, here is the non-approved target model full-sized:

Steve
I stand corrected and for that I am sorry. I had the correct model saved on my pictures but also had the "unapproved" one as well and attached the incorrect one. Thank you for the corrections of my mistakes. Even my title was of the unapproved model, duh!!!!!
p.s. How do you do two things here regarding a new or reply to a thread.....one being, attach a link to a particular site?
the second being.......how do you attach such a large picture of any picture saved to ones files?
Thank you in advance and sorry for the glaring mistakes I put forth.

regards
SteveG

Hi Steve,

No problem at all.

To post a link, all you need to do is highlight the URL in the title bar (at the top of your browser) and right click and choose "copy", and then put the cursor in the message where you want to paste the URL and right click and choose "paste". this will "copy and paste" the URL text into your message.

To post pictures, you can upload them to the BBS itself, but they usually scale down the image to save disk space and bandwidth on the BBS server.

A better way is to link to an external image.

I upload images to a free hosting service called Imgur (www.imgur.com (http://www.imgur.com)). Imgur is free and easy to upload images from your computer to their server, or even feed it the URL of an image on the web, and it will host the picture on their server. Again, you will copy and past the URL of the image stored on their server.

You can either just provide the link, like this:

Or you can use html code to make your image actually show up in your message text like this:

yourimageurl

I'm trying this for the "second" time as you can see my "mistake" on the earlier post.

Great! Just so you know, one of the neat things about imgur is you don't have to register to use it.
