Hey Guys,:D:D:D
Which company makes a mould that is the same or close to the shape and weight of the original .50 Maynard and if one exists is it very accurate?

Romano and yes it's accurate.

There are many different designs that work. I like the old Smith-Maynard mold Lyman made. Lodgewood copied it with slight changes and sell it in a two, four and six gang mold. Mike O,,,,,,yeah I can't spell his last name, also makes the same style bullet in two and four cavity molds of the highest quality.
Rapine also.

Rapine mould number 520385 (.520" diameter and weighs 385 grains) is designed after an original Maynard bullet. See attached photos.

2294 2295

I have tried this bullet in my original 2nd Model Maynard and it didn't produce the accuracy I was hoping for. I use a Moose .520" sized to .518". This bullet weighs 400 grains and is extremely accurate.

I thank you very kindly for the great info and will look into the Romano mould but, if you happen to remember who Mike O,,,,,, is, I'd sure like to know!

P.J. was referring to Mike Owsiak (I think that is how it is spelled).

YEAH,,,,that Mike!! I have serial number #13 of the first dozen he ever made. He was reluctant to stamp it but I said Heck Yeah! See'n I'm not superstitious or anything.
Funny thing is I have two of them and have NEVER used #13 =)
