A couple of years ago I had a Lyman .515139 350gr. mould modified for a .56/56 Ballard Carbine. Had the top two bands enlarged to .546 and the bottom two bands to .526 to thumb press into a cut .50-70 case. The bullet shoots great in the somewhat slow twist barrel. Worked so well that when I picked up my Ballard rifle a month or so ago, I figured I'd try that route again (but only after thorough research here on Ballard military rifles).
So, I decided to modify a Lyman .429383. I had the upper two bands enlarged to .458 and the bottom band was left alone as it fits tightly in a .44 mag case. There is a big grease groove in the base and the deeper grease groove in the nose provides all the lube I need. It shoots wonderful good. Erik at Hollow Point Molds did the work for me again. Didn't cost much and his turn around is amazing.
