Never Thought I would own a good example of a Civil War import P53 till I spotted this one on one of the smaller
auction sites. It had a badly cracked wrist but otherwise looked in good shape . From the pictures I could see the proper
Palmer bands, BSAT roundel and square lock plate screw washers so I took a chance and won the auction and crossed my fingers.

It Turned out to be a Tipping & Lawden made P53 with Henry Clive Barrel. Both of these are Known exporters of P53's per Mr. Barry's
Book on Civil War muskets. Lockplate is a Tower 1863 and barrel has original dark blueing. Wrist was broken worse than I
had thought but a local friend of mine is both a gunsmith and antique furniture restorer and was able to repair it with instructions
to repair but not hide the fact it had been broken. It now resides next to my Spencer and Burnside originals.
