New, unfired Hege Whitney-Mississippi, .58, unfired, perfect condition. Multi-groove. Trigger as from factory and fairly good, though a bit creepy; some people like that. Comes with SAC card. $800. No photos, but will have it at the nationals. John Maderious, WBR, 10223 cell 707 695-0490

Is this one made in Germany, or made in Italy for Hege?

Glenn,

They're all assembled in Italy, even the ones that have German barrels, and they all have Italian proofs because proof is done where the gun is assembled. The German barrels appear to have a S/N that is 3 digits and starts with Z.

The competition guns come glass bedded, sighted for 50 yards, and have 8-groove barrels. The "non-competition" guns did not get SAC approval, so if it has the card, it's one of the good ones. Apparently, the owner of the company passed away, and at the end, the guys in the shop were just sending out whatever they could to fill orders before shutting it down. That's why some of the N-SSA members who ordered from HEGE didn't get the good rifles, just stock Euroarms guns.

These guns shoot amazingly well with every bullet I've tried (from the bench, at least...in my hands, it's "hit or miss"), but the best seems to be the .54 Wilkinson-Improved Pickett bullet by Greg Edington. Use 42.5 grains of FFFg and MCM Lube.

John, did you sell this at Nationals? Anything you might want in trade?

Cheers,

Mike
