Mixing Lee Alox lube with beeswax/crisco?

Has anyone experimented with adding Lee Alox Lube to their beeswax/crisco lube mix?

No; but smoothbore excepted, where the alox isn't keeping the fouling soft, but rather just providing some lube to push the ball down, liquid alox isn't really a good mix with black powder. Day was, I tried using it as a tumble lube on my minies... after 3-4 rounds you needed a hammer to get them down the bore. Based on that, it will never get near my minies again.Might make a good mix for a lube sizer and soft, cold weather smokeless handgun lube though.

Here is another suggestion for you I use a mixture of alox, beeswax, and white lithium grease in equal parts for musket, carbine, and single shot has worked well for me

I have not ever had the need to use the solid stick type NRA Alox in musket lube but have used it mixed in with musket lube applied to bullets with shallow lube grooves for long barrel breech loaders to make the lube thick enough to carry all the way down the barrel because it would raise melting point of the lube without hardening it. Has anyone experimented with adding Lee Alox Lube to their beeswax/crisco lube mix?Steve I use this exact formula in my Erma Gallager with the factory rifling and It does excellent. The barrel stays moist all the way to the end of the muzzle and I can shoot all day without running a patch in it until the end of the day but I choose to clean the barrel after every relay to keep any heavy build up out of that fast twist and microgroove rifling. I wouldn't try this in a musket like others have suggested. Its way to thick and sticky for a muzzleloader. I stick to the tried and true Crisco in my rifle musket.

I was thinking that since the Lee Alox is superb at anti-leading that it might be a useful additive in the usual lube.

But if it makes it too stiff I guess not.

Have been using a mixture of Crisco, Beeswax, and Alox for 40 yrs. About 60% Crisco, 20% soft Beeswax, and 20% Alox. Have always had excellent results and never a leading problem. May add a little more Crisco if the weather is going to be colder or more Beeswax in hotter weather. Use only regular Crisco. The off brands don't seem to break down and the buttered Crisco breaks down completely.
