Thanks Steve. I was leaning more toward a used (cheaper) mould for a new guy that is just tryin to start out in skirmishing.

Food for thought. I have every size 58 mould of the RCBS Hodgon. I have found that the .580 sized down shot the best. I would size it down to .575. The .576 mould was the worst of the three: .576,.578 and .580. So don't pass up any size mould under .580. My first Hodgon was the only one you could get .578 and trade straighth up for the .576 new. The .576 did not shoot as well as the .578 that I traded and my best friend refused to trade back because how well that .578 sized down shot for him. Rich

FYI, with regard to the RCBS Hogdon moulds. I have the .578" and the .580". The .578" that I bought about ten years ago was fine. I bought the .580" last year. I cast about 100 to start with and when I mic'd them, I was dismayed to find they measured out at .585"...so much for quality control. I have since found that Moose's Wilkinson moulds shoot really well, so the Hogdon is not an option any more.

I have a .578 that drops a .586 bullet. RCBS verified it meets current spec.
