View Full Version : Henry Extractor Problem

I had to replace a broken extractor in my 44/40 Henry last year. The replacement wasn't extracting the casings 100% of the time, so I took it apart and did some additional honing on the notch that grabs the rim of the shell. I really don't want to take any more off because I think it'll make it too fragile. It's better now, but still not 100%. Before I do this again, I thought I'd ask for advice from anyone on the list that knows more than I do.

I'm not a professional gunsmith, nor do I play one on TV...

I don't have that problem but I had to replace my extractor and now all my cases get thrown over my left shoulder when shooting a match mixing them up who ever is on my left. If who ever can help you maybe they can tell me how shape extractor head so it will stop ejecting them over my left side. Rich

Could the inside notch of the ejector be longer on one side? Have you got any lube residue in the top or bottom notches? Those are the only ways I can imagine casings getting tossed one way or the other.
