I have a Model 1855 Springfield lock, an original one, that I need to take apart to he bare lockplate (so I can drill out a broken off screw). I have this down to the tumbler, with the attched hand that moves the maynard tape primer upward as the hammer is cocked.
The origianl manual for the model, which I found on line, says to just drive the tumbler out from the front - and then remove the hand - but the hand won't fit through the slit in the lock - do I need to move a pin to before remocing the tumber?
