I've gotten my Mississippi type E conversion finished and sighted in except for browning the barrel and dressing down the sides of the front dovetailed sight to match the contour of the barrel. It is soldered in place and I do not want to undo that and have to freight again. What and how do ya'll do this without buggering up the barrel?

I hold a metal putty knife up against the sight, use a small grinding stone on your dremel tool, it will work perfectly, and having the putty knife there as a guard, prevents any nicking up of your barrel.

You may want to try using masking tape on the barrel around the base and then hand grind, or file, the excess off the dovetailed base to match the contour of the barrel.
