Has anyone seen that pitting in a smoothbore barrel impacts the accuracy?

I have seen rifles with a little pitting shoot pretty good. I may be wrong but one of the best smoothbore shooters I know has a less than pristine bore

Serious pitting at the muzzle may be an issue.

Minor pitting will not effect the accuracy. I have both a relined barreled smoothbore and smootbores with minor pitting and cannot say that the one with pitting shoots any less accurate. What you will find is that the pitting makes the gun foul more and take longer to clean. If the worst erosion is at the breech, it will tend to pull the cleaning patches off or bunch up on the cleaning rod and make it difficult to remove. If the pitting is deep or has very large areas of moderate pitting I would have it relined.

my '42 has pitting in the bore and I have to knurl the balls on a 12" file, what a shooter it becomes! I just roll the balls back and forth on the file about 12-15 times while pressing down until roughed up. 47 grains of 3fff and dip in lube.
