I just picked up an early Rogers & Spencer revolver and the front sight post is too short. Not sure if the early ones had a shorter sight, but it was hitting about 6 inches high. I need to replace the post with a taller one. I understand that it takes a 4mm thread. I need about 0.3 inches above the barrel and I only have about .21 inches now. If this is an item that one of the sutlers, like S & S carries, that would be useful to know, too.

Thanks,

In the past, folks bought an appropriate metric screw, screwed it in and snipped off the head. Then a little file work for height and clean up.

A good hardware store with all the little pull out draws, of screws, nut, and bolts, should be able to help you out. Get extra ones, then you can experiment.

I ordered a dovetailed shooters front sight fron S & S. I decided to go ahead and take this approach instead of replacing the post. Thanks for your replies.
