I bought a repo Maynard, and I bought 50 brass cases from Lodgewood to use in it, (didn't receive the 75 plastic ones that was to come with the carbine). What I want to know is, should you have to make the flash hole in the brass case larger? Took it out to try it out today, and none of them would fire, just a burnt spot on the rear of the case, I have a new Amco nipple installed, and I'm using 6 wing caps. I know the hole is alot smaller than the ones on my Gallagher case.

I have a Romano Model 2 which has a musket nipple in it. Musket nipples are flat on the bottom, Maynard nipples are rounded. If you round or bevel the bottom of the musket nipple (I did it by chucking the nipple in a drill press and holding a file against the base of the nipple on an angle), it may cure the ignition problem. It cured mine. If that doesn't work then take a #57 or 58 drill bit and open the hole in the back of the cartridge. Good luck.

I wound up opening the holes on my cases slightly. Fixed the problem 100%.
