What is it? When was it made? Is it made by Colt or is it an Italian repro built for Colt? Is it legal for N-SSA? Thanks, dennis

They're listed in the Approved Arms section of this web site as Colt Firearms Division. They were made in the 70's-80's from parts furnished by Uberti. The first 2000 51 Navy revolvers were built in the Colt Custom Gun Shop; all later production was by the Iver Johnson company under contract to Colt, who was responsible for final inspection, marketing, and product liability.
