Have for sale at the Nationals a Springfield Musket Model 1840. This arm is the rifled, cone conversion to percussion. All Original with the exception of the ramrod(which appears to be a 1842 original?). Original long range rear sight, .69 Cal. Stock cartouches very clear. The bore is in very good condition as well. This arm has not been "played with". All correct and original and in very good condition.

John Holland has seen this arm and agrees with the evaluation. This arm could be converted to a smoothbore but of course would lower the value of a historically collectable piece. There were approx 2000 of these arms converted to the rifled configuration with the long range rear sight and the cone conversion. The ramrod may be considered in keeping since these arms were not converted until 1842 at the Springfield Arsenal.

This would be an excellent addition to any serious collection. Asking $950.00 but any serious offer considered. I will have this arm at the Nationals. Arriving Tuesday afternoon. Camp site next to Pistol Range foot bridge.
