You should stick to the cartridge rifle if your wanting to shoot long range, this is a Black powder percussion and will offer very little in long range shooting and accuracy.

Last skirmish I watched a gent shoot a 18" gong at 250 yards three consecutive times!

I suppose my long range may differ than some, 18" gong at 250 yards my pedersoli is capable of, but my idea of long range is 500 yards and beyond.

I don't know about a 1863 sharps sporting rifle but a blackpowder gibbs is awesome out to 1000 yds.I believe the record for a ten shot group is a hair over 3" at 1000yds

Was offered two at realistic prices, one was 45cal with fast twist barrel the other was 54cal with slower twist. Not sure which would do the job I was looking for so I bought both.I'll find out which one is better for what I want. Now just have to figure out what to shoot in them.Paper seems like a lot of work but who knows,I'm looking for accuracy so I 'll just have to try every thing I can think of.Any sugguestions?
