Dear Members, my friend John Osborne in New Zealand is involved in the production of a documentary on The Battle of Ruapekapeka Dec 1845-Jan 1846. He's looking for video clips (online or otherwise) from which he could extract the sounds of massed musketry fire, and artillery discharges. We have located several on Youtube (including some great ones from NSSA events), but I was wondering if anyone would have other resources for him. We're obviously looking for recordings that have little, if any, foreground voices....Cheers, LLoyd

The standard, which has been used by most of the better films/documentaries was always the Frederick Fennell "The Civil War: Its Music and Sounds," originally produced in the 1960s, but widely available on CD today.

The musket fire in the movie Gettysburg was recored at a National Skirmish at Fort Shenandoah. I don't know if the artillery was recored there or not. It' on DVD if you could use it or not is probably a legal question.
