Help with smoothbore

I am looking for what size round ball i shoud get for my smoothbore. barrel miked out at 689.5 How small do you go??

Stubby, If you plan to shoot a roundball right out of the mould then get a mould .004-.006 underboresize. If you plan to roll file your roundballs go with a mould .009-.012 underbore size. If I had your gun I would go with a .680 mould and roll file the balls to a diameter to .682-.683 a light coat of Lee liquid Alox amd 45grns of fff swiss powder. You could go with the popular .687 mould but you would have to rasp the to the same diameter of .682-.683. If you go with a .678 mould it does give you a wider range to file your roundball to try different sizes. I hope this helps. Remember the ball is he only thing you can modify to make your smoothy shoot well. so be consistant with size. Loose is good and tight is bad when loading a smoothy. Rich Foster
