Has anyone taken any of the correspondonce or video gunsmith programs? Do they do anything othere than take your money?

I'd like to graduate from the ranks of "Gun Plumber" but I'm not within 400 miles of a real classroom gunsmith scholl

Chris,

I went to the Colorado School of Trades.
They teach all the basics for all types of general Gunsmithing.
What you do with that training, when you finish, is up to you.

Is it within 400 miles of you? I can't say...
It was about 1800 miles for me... but it was worth it!
Just my opinion,

Gun Smith training is about 80% machining, work holding, fit calculation, and measuring. The rest is approach, and being able to work with exploded views, manuals, and if you are lucky factory training. If you have the first part, then online should be valuable to help with how to approach the task. If you need to make a part, spring, or item used in the pressure vessel, then you need to also have an understanding of material strengths, and heat treating. I would review the course outline to see if it includes good course Study, and hopefully some meaningful field trips.

Hope this helps your evaluation
