I purchased a stock inscribed with the date May 4, 1864. The lock has an anchor with DC on it.Could this be Civil War stock or lock? Also purchased a Navy Arms Carbine - Antonio Zoli Made in Italy on the barrel. Has a dovetailed rear sight. Would this be legal? Thanks-Allen Eye, Cockade Rifles

Navy Arms carbine" is a shortened Zouave they made for American hunters and NO you can't use it in the N-SSA. The first one we gonna need some pictures me thinks.

It is possible the "Navy Arms Carbine" is a Murray, which has a legal dovetailed rear sight.

The lock with an anchor and DC could very likely be from a Belgian Short Enfield Rifle, aka "Brazilian Navy Rifle".

Photos of everything will be the key to positive identification. If you can't post them here, you are welcome to mail them to me.

You're in luck. The carbine is a JP Murray repop. It's legal in N-SSA compitition.

David,

Muley Gil is correct, your carbine is a Murray, and is legal for use in the N-SSA's competitive matches. Also, your stock is as I suspected, the remnants of a Belgian "Brazilian Light Minie Rifle", which if restored to original specs is also legal for use in the N-SSA.

I hope this has helped you!

Dave I have a light minie rifle that belonged to ohio -It has the brass eagle on the wrist of the stock - gun is complete- and rifling is good - It has an enfeild type barrel with an odd nose cap that looks like a garibaldi in a smaller fasion- if I can I will try and take some pics for you to look at -PM me if you like.

John,
Will you send me a spec sheet for this rifle, I'll probably be helping my teammate Allen with this project.
Also I'd like a spec sheet for an 1835-40 Springfield I'm planning on building. The original lock is done minus the hammer frizzen and pan.

Bill, I am working up a SAC sheet for the Light Minie Rifle and will get a copy out to you, along with one for the Model 1840 Musket.

John,
Thanks. I got a phone call from The Rifle Shoppe and the parts for my newest Hall are on the way.
Nine month wait but worth it, so I guess they are swamped.
