Folks:
I bought one each of these in .54 and .58. I was a tried and true Hogdon user until now. These shoot every bit as good if not better. I'm very pleased. Wonder if we'll see one in .69 cal.....

One of the most surprising things to me is the very small amount of lube you need. You don't want to fill the groove; just a quick dip in HOT lube is all I needed. Another advantage is casting speed. I got two-bangers and while you might have to wait a bit for the sprue to set up, you're still casting faster than anything with a base pin.

As for a Wilkinson in .69 caliber....ahhhh....don't you think it might be just be a "little punishing"? I mean the design is great, but ye gads, can ones shoulder take it?

I have one of the .69 Wilkinson moulds that Greg Eddington had made. It has 2 core pins- a flat base and a concave base. I am testing it now in a Garibaldi lined down to .686 by Bob Hoyt. I shot a 1.5"-2" group offhand at 50 yards with 50 grains of 3f goex. I am going to try 60 of 2f to see if that tightens it up any.I also shot the Rapine 685500 with 50 grains of 3f goex and got a 5 shot 1.25" group at 50 yards. Looks like this might be my shooter for next season.Tim

Thank you for the kind remarks Mr. Holland! My back x-rays bear more resemblance to the blue prints of an elevator shaft, but I'm above the sod and working my way back to expert class. It's for this reason that I feel uniquely qualified to own and shoot three Garibaldi rifles. One, like our venerable stick-shooting Property manager has recently been relined to .686 by our gentle friend Mr. Hoyt. The other two will stay in original condition. (One by the way, has a slip of paper halfway up the barrel channel under the barrel that indicates regiment, etc.)

Our friend Lefty is luxuriating in the tropical paradise of Antigua, but shall be returning soon.

I shoot an original rifled '42 relined by Hoyt to .687. Shoots great with the Rapine semi wadcutter. BUT, there are alot of guys with Armi '42 rifled muskets and Fremonts that have oversize bores and need a bigger minie than the Rapine or(if your like shoulder surgery)the Lyman. An oversive semi wadcutter would be a plus for those guys.
