I bought a Potsdam at Nationals-the bore miced out at .743. I need to know what size of ball or what size mould would I start with. If anyone has one- would it be possible to ship me some bullets or to let me borrow the mould. Allen Eye Cockade Rifles Competitor #10882

David I also have a large bore Potsdam smoothbore. Size is 744 +-. You need to accurately measure the bore. I can help you out with a few balls to work with. this may be easier if you called me at home. My number is 610 283 3076 cell.

I shipped a box with around 30 .735 round balls for you to try. I also included the band spring I made for you.
If the .735 ball works for you I'll loan you the mold to cast up as many as you need.

I have a Prussian Suhl smooth bore made between 1849 and 1852. Its true caliber is.71. .69 caliber balls fit nicely but it will not take the .72 balls I use in my Brown Bess.
