On the front of this box is 52/100, does that mean 100grains powder?1067

I intrepret this as 52/100th's of an inch caliber, or .52 inches.

Steve is correct, it means .52 caliber by todays standards.

Thanks guys, has anyone seen or have a picture of a box cover that denotes the amount of powder used in the cartridge?

Just for Sharps cartridges, or cartridges in general?

I highly recommend the series "Round Ball to Rimfire". It is a four-volume set on Civil War era ammunition. I have just finished volume 1.

They are rather expensive at $40-$50 each, but I was able to get volumes 1-3 on inter-library loan.
