I am looking at a percussion short barrel, about 34 inches, shoulder arm. The lock has Springfield 1862, the barrel 1863. It has two bands, not the same metal, the forecap at the end of the stock is missing, though inletted for one. I can't tell the caliber but I think maybe a 69 but I can't tell if it is a reamed out .58, "sportorized" after the War or was originally a smooth bore. There is no bayonet lug, no rear sight and just a brass bead for a front sight. Ramroad does not have conical shape at the end, just a flattened disc. Anyone want to take en educated guess at what this might be? They want$450 for it and I am thinking about it s at least parts of it started out as something from the Civil war.

What you have described is a post war alteration to a shotgun, and seemingly a mixture of parts. As for the price, add up what you feel the total value of the parts may be and see where the price stands in relation to your estimation.
