Phil,
Thanks for posting! Jim Burgess' timeline of weapons brought the evolution into perspective, especially for nimrods like me whose knowledge comes piecemeal, in random dribs and drabs. Well worth a watch for us enthusiasts: I knew of all these types and designations, but not exactly how they all fit together. Unlike when I watch almost anything available on TV (or the interwebs, for that matter), I feel like I just learned something. Who'd'a thunk it! Good stuff!

Cheers,
Jim B.

You can thank John Morris of the CMH (and fellew member of the Virginia Gun Collectors Assn.) for taping the presentation. I understand the audio leaves a little bit to be desired. It was not a polished talk since I do not do it on a regular basis. It would have gone a little more smoothly had I arranged the muskets on the table better but most of them didn't belong to me and I was stuck with the haphazard arrangement made by the various owners.

The Virginia Gun Collectors Assn. meets the 4th Thursday each month (except March, November & December) at 7 p.m. at NRA HQs in Fairfax, VA. Guests are always welcome if you are in the area and would like to check out our other programs.
