Pedersoli makes an 1858 Remington Revolver. This is not listed in the list of approved arms.

Can you get individual approval for such arms, or do they have to be approved by the Board?

You should be able to get individual approval for it. Though I suspect that if one was brought in, the individual approval would wind up being superseded by a production approval fairly quickly.

They are for sale in the US right now. I was about to buy one, until I discovered it was not an approved arm. What is involved in getting an individual approval?

Take the gun in for inspection by the Small Arms Committee. They do it at Nationals, you should be able to get a temporary approval at some regional shoots as well.

I've never been to the nationals. I could probably send it with some folks, though I'd hate to shell out $800 on it and end up with it not getting approved for some reason.

I've emailed Pedersoli and asked them about getting it approved.

If I have to choose between the Pietta "shooters" model and a Pedersoli, I'll go with the Pedersoli. They are about the same price.

Steve,

You don't have to go to the nationals to get a firearm inspected. Every region has a small arms inspector(s), that can do it for you.

That being said, come to the Nationals if you can. It's a great shoot.
