This ramrod was installed in an 1863 Springfield that I am working on. It has a brass tip which is flat on the end, and measures .240" dia by 39" long. Thanks, Fred

The rod appears to be a reproduction rod for a Krider rifle, John Krider was one of the many gunmakers in or near Phila. trying to get a contract from the Federal government. Or this rod may just be an attempt to make a repro Whitney-Enfield rod.

The Springfield I'm working on belongs to our local GAR hall which is now a museum. I have been cleaning and preserving their firearms and swords for them. The Springfield has been there for quite a few years, and the rod looks old enough to be an original. I was thinking it may be from a foreign made weapon.
