1855 Whitney Militia Rifle for sale. Some say it is the best skirmish rifle on the line. This one is Tom Nixon built and in excellent condition. Asking $1,900.
6/26/2012: I just spoke with Tom Nixon about the rifle. It has a Whitacre barrel, Brian Haack lock plate. Origninal internal lock parts, butt plate, and trigger assembly. He said it would be $2700 - $2800 if he built the rifle today. Also said he is retiring and not taking anymore orders.
