What is the nipple size/thread for the nipples on the Mirouk 1863 Springfield?

Are the nipples 8x1 mm as stated on Dixie gunworks website or will a 5/16 x 24 nipple fit?

Dixie sold those muskets for years. I would tend to believe them. I'm pretty sure they were built metric.
