I see where the Pietta Deluxe Shooters Special is being sold for $995. I want a really nice accurate pistol so I do not want to make a $1000 mistake. Is this approved for NSSA skirmish?...Russ

The SAC has no information on that particular arm.

It's Number 14 under approved Remington revolvers. I have one.

Perhaps it is a case of semantics, or terminology. The revolver in question was not submitted as, nor was it approved as, a "Delux Shooters Special". That is why it is not listed as such in the N-SSA Approved Arms List, hence my previous comment.

The Deluxe model is stainless rather than blued. That appears to be the only difference with the gun that was approved. Basically it is a Pietta factory tuned Remington with gain twist rifling. From my experience it will need a trigger job as the triggers are too heavy for competition. I have the blued model and would recommend it for competition as the stainless steel reflects too much light under bright conditions for my tastes. Plus it is hundreds of dollars less in cost.

I've been shooting one for years. They're nice guns, but I did take my trigger pull down some.

One time at a CWSA Nationals in Missouri, I scored a 49 with it at 50 yards. I thought that score would take first place, but it only lasted one relay because someone named Wayne Wienert shot a 49x. Dang that Wayne, I miss him.

.457 ball, 15grs FFF Goex with grits filler, beeswax-beef tallow lube. I am no great pistol shooter, but have fired 3 98-5x's at 25 and an 89 at 50. great gun.
