I'm looking for an 1816 forend piece that can be splined at the middle band.

Jims right, dunlap makes good ones.
Here is a link to one I saw on e-bay:

A bit more expensive than Wayne's but the band spring recesses are already cut in. Could be a good or bad thing. Don't know about the quality.

Thanks guys. I was leaning towards holding out for an original cut off, but that could take awhile. I agree that Dunlap's work is first rate. The other vendor's product does sound interesting though, with the inletting done for the springs. I'm wondering if the stess on the joint at the rear band would be more or less than at the middle, which was my intent. I just figured that's how it was usually done. It would seem though, that there would be more wood to work with at the rear band.

You might want to give Lodgewood Mfg. a call in the afternoon. They have original lumber available at times.

duane,

I have a forend piece that is repro piece. It is 90 % done and will stretch down to the first band. I am looking at $100 dollars shipped to your door. If you do not like it, there is a seven day return policy minus shipping and handling.
