Guess this might be a question for bullet collectors and battle field historians.
Does anyone know the relative amount of round ball fired in revolvers in battle versus conicals?

I have dug many more revolver bullets than round balls. All of the arsenal packs I have seen for pistols are conical not round balls.

Same here.

I've never even found a .44 ball. I have found a few .36 balls in CS camps. Everything else have been conical.

While relic hunting with Steve Meserve and AC Baird near Upperville Va, I found a .44 roundball with a clear iimprint of the revolver rammer on one side of it. We also found a number of fired and dropped revolver conicals, along with some .58 minies and dropped Sharps bullets.

Wow.Thanks for the info fellas. I certainly would have guessed the opposite.
I'm really partial to the conical myself when the piece permits. Especially with Walkers, as the service load with conical doesn't make the loading lever drop like round ball. And it explained to me Col. Walker's comment about it shooting "like a rifle".
