Im looking for an original 1842 barrel band (with sling swivel) for an 1850 dated model 1842 rifle I just picked up at an estate auction. I also need a stock spring for it. I think the rear and middle springs are the same fyi. I may have to resort to getting a repro but I would much rather put an oringinal on it. I may end up selling it...I just havnt made my mind up yet...lol
Thanks guys!

Yea, I tried Lodgewood and as of last week, they didn’t have any. I found several companies that sell reproductions but I really would like an original. thanks for the suggestion!!

I am a little confused, easy at this stage in my life.
Are you looking for a band and spring for an 1842 "RIFLE" variant. Or an 1842 RIFL"ED" Musket variant?
These two items can be quite different, yet very similar.
Just a thought on my part,

Try S&S firearms, I'm pretty sure I just saw an original with swivel listed on their site.

Its the Musket version, not the "mississippi rifle" version.I wasnt sure what you were talking about untill I was doing some more research and saw the US Rifle 1842 you were talking about. It also didnt help that I posted the term rifle in my request insted of musket..sorry bout the confusion!

You might consider trying Ed Knisely. He is a straight up dealer whom I've dealt with for years, and a real gentleman. You can reach him at (717) 741-2556, or EdKnisely@aol.com . He is in York, PA. I'm not giving up any secret information, as this info is from his business card.

Another dealer I wouldn't hesitate to use is Terry Kirkpatrick, (434) 374-0756, or vagunparts@verizon.net , again Terry is someone I have first hand experience with and have no qualms about doing business with. This info is also from Terry's business card.

Thanks John, I talked to Terry and He's on the lookout for one for me. I havnt talked to the others but I will. I did find one that was a "DUG" band but from the pics, it didnt really look too,too bad and hopefully after some oil and some 400 steal wool, maybe it will look ok. Its cheap so Im giving it a try. Atleast it will hold me over till I find a good one. http://americancivilwarrelics.com/Z273.htm
