I shoot the Rapine 500 gr. semi wadcutter with 70 gr of 2F GOEX out of a relined original as a target and hunting load. Very accurate. The "big"
minie will really thump you off the bench.

Rick, yours is a short one and some have said that you need more powder on the short barrels.

I'm shooting 84 grns on my 42 smooth, but the new one 69 rifled the guy said that he had the best luck with 39 or 43?
Can't remember, it is one the butstock...
That was with a ball 750 grn round... The plug was redone, deeper and bigger, so I would guess 650-675grn.

Can't wait to shoot it. He said it did great at 50 and 100 plus worked out a load for 150-200 or something like that from what I remember...

I plan to shoot a deer with it and maybe a few targets....
Soon to pick up one like yours if the guy brings it to me..

Got a thought for a tube trimmer on a Smith for brass tubes.

I have some crown cutters, 90 deg and 11 deg.

They use a brass or steel pilot like this.

On end fits the tool one in the barrel.
Or in this case fits the brass case.

Was thinking you can make it to fit inside the case, give it a few turns and trim the tube to length needed. It would keep the cutting true and good for a seal.
May only take 1/2 to one turn then try in the gun.

I will get the spec but I'm thinking it is around 1/8" and the big side to fit the tube would be 516 and 1/2" long with a taper on the very end to make it easy to fit in or bullet head.

I sold the gun to gadget. it was using 57 grns 2f goex with the big lyman bullet. 735 grns sounds right on the bullet weight. the gun will take down a steel ram at 200 yards. good luck with your's. Marv

well my new mold seems undersized, I will have to shoot it to see, but i am am sure i will have to open up the mold on the lathe, anyone else found this to be a problem???

and I will me making a sizing die,

I use the 500-gr. Rapine semi-wadcutter with 60 grains of 3F Goex, in my Plymouth Navy Rifle (lined to 0.685 by Bobby). Drives tacks every time.
