Got a chance to trade a Taylor & Co. Brass frame Henry in 45 LC for an N-SSA Numbered Brass Frame in 44-40. Thinking real hard about making the trade since I shoot CAS and have handguns in 44-40. The 45LC Henry is an orphan since I have no other guns in that caliber. Plus I had a Henry "back in the day" in 44-40 and it does shoot cleaner than the 45LC when using BP. What I'd like to know is the history on these "1 of 500" NSSA Henry Rifles. When were they produced? Quality? Was Navy Arms the Importer? etc. Thanks all.

I shoot one of the N-SSA marked guns. My was made in 1999. They were all imported by Navy Arms. They are all marked N-SSA 1 thru 500 rather than 1 of 500 as they were supposed to be. I don't beleive that there were actually 500 of them produced. I suspect they were all produced over a fairly short period of time. The quality of mine is quite good, however another member of my team had one which had an oversized barrel, which was replaced by Navy Arms.
