Slug the bore of your Maynard if you haven't done so yet, bore sizes vary from gun to gun. I have two original 2nd Model Maynards and they shoot .518" diameter bullets. Check the bulletin board there was a recent thread that has several responses regarding bore sizes of Maynard carbine.
